On the past day, the eastern states of Bihar and Jharkhand recorded some scattered light to moderate rains which were already predicted by Skymet Weather.
Spanning 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Friday, Daltonganj recorded 57 mm of rains, Patna 31 mm, Forbesganj 25 mm, Muzaffarpur 18 mm, Bhagalpur 13 mm, Ranchi 6 mm, Chapra 3 mm, Jamshedpur 1 mm, and Gaya and Darbhanga witnessed some traces of rains.
As per Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough passes via Bihar and Jharkhand up to northwest Bay of Bengal. In addition to this, the cyclonic circulation persists over Indo Gangetic plains.
Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the area during the next 24 hrs. Along these lines, we anticipate heavy to very heavy rains to occur at a few places over the foothills of Bihar.
In fact, the districts lying in the vicinity of foothills may even experience flood like situation. The ongoing rainfall over neighboring Nepal may also add to the flooding situation over the state.
In addition to this, moderate spells may also occur over Jharkhand and plains of Bihar during the next 24 hours. Cities like Gaya, Patna, Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Araria in Bihar and Ranchi, Giridh, Bokaro, and Raigad in Jharkhand may experience these torrential showers.
The intensity of rains, however, may drop after 24 hours due to the formation of the low-pressure area.
As of August 24, Jharkhand is rain insufficient by 28% and Bihar is rain inadequate by 21%. These downpours will proceed till the month end yet before the finish of August we expect rain inadequacy over both these states to diminish by some degree.
