After a heavy spell of rains in July, isolated pockets of the state has again observed heavy rains due to an active weather system has seen prevailing over Gujarat and adjoining areas. Thus, several districts of Gujarat such as Idar, Surat, Amreli, Ahmedabad and Deesa have recorded a good amount of rainfall activities.

Therefore, the residents of Gujarat and adjoining areas have been experiencing comfortable and pleasant weather conditions. Furthermore, these heavy Monsoon rains occurring during the last two to three days have pounded Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts, disrupting road and rail traffic.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Surat recorded 61.4 mm of rainfall, Ahmedabad 53 mm, Veraval 35 mm, Vadodara 25 mm,  Idar 18 mm, Deesa 16.3 mm, Bhavnagar 14 mm, Okha and Rajkot 9 mm, Kandla 6 mm, Dwarka 4 mm and Porbandar 2 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a well-marked low pressure area which was seen prevailing over Gujarat and adjoining areas. Due to which, heavy to very heavy rain and thundershowers have lashed the entire state.

Now, this system is likely to shift towards the Arabian Sea. Hence, these incessant rainfall activities over the region are expected to reduce significantly. Though one or two spells of moderate rains cannot be ruled out over southern parts of Gujarat during the next 24 to 36 hours.
