Heavy rains are likely over state of Rajasthan  during this week and spilling over to next one, as well. Southeastern  parts  first and  southwest  region  later will be lashed with fairly widespread  rain and thundershowers, heavy at many places.  Saturating  rains  are expected  over  the  arid posts of border areas like  Barmer and Jaisalmer.  Also, soaking spell is likely  all along the contiguous border areas of Kutch in Gujarat and Rann of Kutch.

State of Rajasthan was earlier ravaged by cyclone Biparjoy,  with untimely inclement weather  conditions during 3rd week of June.  Western parts were smashed with larger fury than the rest.  Deluge of unseasonal rains spoiled the rainfall distribution, very early in the season.  Month of June ended up with a huge surplus of 287% rainfall for West Rajasthan and a large excess of 118% for the  eastern half.  There have been sporadic rains, even thereafter, more so for the East Rajasthan  during the start of July.  And, yet another prolonged spell,  albeit staggered  and scattered , is likely. The wet spell  commences with weather activity over the southern parts today and spreads gradually to touch most part, over the next 4-5 days.

There is a cyclonic circulation over Saurashtra and Kutch in the lower levels.  Monsoon trough is running south of its normal position  across the central parts of Rajasthan. The Convergence of these two features will start the weather activity.  Places like Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Jhalawar, Chhittorgah and Baran will be at risk of receiving heavy thundershowers.  Weather activity will extend covering the eastern parts  by tomorrow and   the border areas, including Barmer, Jaisalmer and Phalodi,  by day after. Two more days, 09th and 10thJuly, will be risky for many parts of the state. While, intense  weather activity will mostly remain confined to southwest Rajasthan on 09th July, the spread will be bigger and intense, across the state from northeast to southwest, the next day.  Pali, Sirohi and Jalore divisions can expect hazardous weather on the 09thJuly. Bigger area covering Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Jaipur, Ajmer, Nagaur, Pali,  Rajsamand , Jalore,  Sirohi and neighboring region can expect strong weather activity on 10thJuly.
