Northeast parts of Rajasthan witnessed heavy rains yesterday. The capital city Jaipur recorded 156 mm, Churu 125 mm and Alwar 119 mm rainfall. These heavy showers were an extension of severe weather activity which struck Delhi and adjacent parts of Haryana, during the same time. Weather activity was mostly confined to East Rajasthan and the western half remained generally dry.
Conditions are building up to have a spurt in monsoon activity over the state for the next 5-6 days. The activity may not be simultaneous across the state and also may not be equitable, as well. However, the intensity and spread of rainfall during this period will be decent enough to raise the seasonal margins. The eastern half will still be more responsive to the weather activity than its counterpart in the west.
The western end of the monsoon trough has shifted southward and runs across the northern parts of the state. Also, there is a cyclonic circulation over North Rajasthan and border areas of Pakistan Tomorrow and the day after, this circulation is shifting over extreme West Rajasthan covering Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Phalodi region. Resultantly, the trough will shift further southward, taking the weather belt along with it.
Today, heavy weather activity is expected over the northeastern parts of the state. Locations like Jaipur, Dausa, Tonk, Alwar, Sikar, Swai Madhopur, Churu, Kota, and Baran are likely to have strong and powerful rain/ thundershowers in the evening and night hours. Extreme northern parts of the state covering Hanumangarh, Anupgarh, Suratgarh and Ganganagar are likely to have heavy to moderate showers. Between the 02nd and 06th of August, the heavy rain pockets will keep switching between east and west and at times simultaneously covering the entire state, like on the 04th of August. First three days, between the 01st and 03rdAug, the weather activity is attributable to the oscillation of monsoon troughs and cyclonic circulation over West Rajasthan. Later, the existing circulation over Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh will move westward, across parts of Madhya Pradesh and reach the outskirts of the state on 04th August. Next three days, between the 04th and 06th of August, most parts of the state will observe moderate weather activity with large spread and intensity. Weather conditions will improve from 08th Aug onward significantly.
