Many parts of Uttar Pradesh have been receiving moderate rains since the past few days. One or two places in the state even received heavy rains. Looking at the figures, for the last 24 hours, the city of Hardoi received 114 mm of rains, Kanpur recorded 53 mm, Varanasi 40 mm, Shahjahanpur 22 mm, Gorakhpur 19 mm and Bahraich saw 16 mm of rains. The capital city of Lucknow also recorded moderate showers.

Subdued Monsoon activities were going on over most parts of Uttar Pradesh until August 17. However, these rains picked pace since the last two to three days.

At present, a Low-Pressure Area is persisting over Southeast Uttar Pradesh. Also, the Axis of Monsoon Trough is passing through the state.

Thus, we expect moderate rains with isolated heavy spells to continue over the state particularly covering West and Central districts such as that of Kanpur, Lucknow, Jhansi, Fatehpur, Raebareli, Meerut, Rampur, Amethi, Mathura and Aligarh.

By tomorrow, the rain activities are set to reduce. However, moderate spells of rain are expected to continue over Southern districts such as Kanpur, Fatehpur, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Banda and Hamirpur for another two days.
