The northeastern parts of the country have been recording some rains for the past few days. So much so that rains of varied intensity have been lashing many parts of the state. The last 24 hours were also quite similar with many areas of the Northeast recording good showers.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Silchar recorded a good 43 mm of rain, Lengpui 27 mm, Tangla 14 mm, Barapani 6 mm, Majbat 6 mm, Tezpur 2 mm, Lumding 1 mm, and Goalpara 0.7 mm.
These rainfall activities can be attributed to the moisture incursion over the region from Bay of Bengal due to the depression lying over Odisha.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, heavy to extremely heavy rains are expected to occur over the states of Sikkim, Assam, as well as Meghalaya during the next 24 to 48 hours. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the same time frame.

The change in weather patterns will occur due to the depression which is moving in a northerly direction. Thereafter, it will move in a north-northeast direction towards Assam and will weaken gradually.
Thereafter, October 22 onward, scattered light rains will continue over Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.
