The state of Kerala does not receive a lot of rains in the month of December. In fact it is the least rainy month of north-east monsoon for the state and rains are much lesser than what they are seen in the month of October.

Kerala rains have however seen an increase due to the remnants of cyclone Mandous hovering as a Cyclonic Circulation over south India. In fact the state has seen heavy rains in the last 24 hours where in Alappuzha recorded 63 mm, Kannur 80 mm, Kozhikode 74 mm, Kochi 78 mm. Moreover, rains were recorded right from north to south of the state.

The offshoot of Mandous will move towards arabian Sea as a low pressure due to which, good rains will also be seen on Dec 12 and 13, improvement is expected on Dec 14.
