In the last 24 hours, parts of Gujarat have received heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. In fact, rain and thundershowers are still going on over most places of the state like Surat. And this rain activity is expected to continue today as well.
In just 3 hours from 08:30 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, Rajkot has received heavy rainfall to the tune of 30 mm and Surat 5 mm.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Surat and Valsad recorded whopping 126 mm of rainfall each, followed by Surendranagar that recorded a mammoth 108 mm. Some other districts recorded moderate spell of showers including Bhavnagar that witnessed 38 mm, Kandla 21.5 mm, Amreli 17 mm, Deesa 16 mm and Ahmedabad 10 mm of rainfall.

These rain and thundershowers can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is persisting over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Rajasthan. Also, a trough is extending from North Arabian Sea up to the Kerala Coast.
In wake of this, these good rainfall activities will continue, leading to pleasant weather conditions across the region. Besides this, drop in temperatures were also reported that were soaring over most places. After 24 hours, the intensity of these rains will decrease as the trough is likely to become less active, however temperatures will continue to remain at the lower end.
