Heavy rains lash Odisha, Jharkhand; showers to get intense over Chhattisgarh

The states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh generally see rainfall activity making an appearance throughout the Monsoon season as whatever weather systems form in the Bay of Bengal end up giving some amount of rains over these states. In fact, the state of Odisha is the significant receiver of these rains. Talking about Jharkhand, if Monsoon systems take a northward route then they end up giving some rainfall over this state as well.

Such has been the case and the last 24 hours have given good rains over Jharkhand and Odisha. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Bhawanipatna witnessed a whopping 105 mm of rains, Ranchi recorded 102 mm of rainfall, Jamshedpur 93 mm, Sundargarh 80 mm, Titlagarh 67 mm and Gopalpur 49 mm of rains.

As per weathermen. due to low pressure over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Coastal Odisha, moderate rains are likely over many parts with heavy to very heavy showers over South Odisha and Chhattisgarh during next 24 hours. Significant fall in temperature will occur. Sky conditions will remain overcast. Rainfall activity over Jharkhand will be between light and moderate as the system will move away.

Therefore, cities of Korapur, Bhawaniptana, Nabrangpur, Sukma, Jagdalpur, Bastar will see heavy to very heavy rains.
