The Southwest Monsoon had been kind enough to the residents of the West Coast during the month of July. The first few days of July were also great for the region.
Rains were of higher intensity over the Konkan and Goa region as well as Coastal Karnataka initially. However, good showers even made frequent appearances over the Kerala coast.

However, the past few days had seen rainfall in reduced intensity over the entire West Coast. This was attributed to the weakening of the off-shore trough along the West Coast. While some rains did occur over the region, they were way less than what was witnessed a few days ago.
Now, rainfall activity has once again picked up pace over the entire West Coast and moderate to heavy rains have been recorded over many parts of the West Coast. In fact, isolated very heavy rains have also been witnessed over the region.

As per weathermen at Skymet, the off-shore trough along the West Coast which has once again become active will give more rains over these areas. All the three regions of Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and Konkan and Goa will witness moderate to heavy showers. The possibility of a few very heavy spells cannot be ruled out.
