Heavy rains lash Maharashtra, more showers ahead

Maharashtra RainGood rains continue to lash many parts of Maharashtra. So much so that many places have been receiving heavy rains as well. Moreover, it is the coastal region which has been receiving moderate to heavy rains. Good showers have also been lashing the interior areas of Maharashtra.

The last 24 hours have not been any different and many areas have recorded good showers during this period. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Harnai received a whopping 125 mm of rain, followed by Mahabaleshwar where 34 mm rainfall was received.

Other areas also received good rains including Dahanu at 24 mm, and Malegaon 56 mm. Mumbai has also received 15 mm of rainfall during the aforementioned time frame.

At present a cyclonic circulation is over the Marathwada region and its adjoining areas. Due to this weather system, good rains are lashing the entire state of Maharashtra. Moisture incursion has increased over the region resulting in increased rains.

Now, the weather system is likely to move in a northwesterly direction which is why during the next 24 to 48 hours, the Konkan region along with interior parts of Maharashtra are likely to receive some more rains.
