The state of Gujarat has been seeing some heavy rains with three digit rains recorded over many parts of the state in the last 24 hours, particularly over the coastal parts. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Dwarka recorded 117 mm of rains, Veraval 116 mm, Okha 92 mm, Porbandar 68 mm, and Rajkot 63 mm.

For the next three days, i.e. from July 6-9, rains are expected to be heavy in parts of Gujarat. A Low Pressure Area had formed in the Bay of Bengal and moved over the central parts, and now is over central parts of Gujarat along with the Cyclonic Circulation.

This is a slow moving system, which will further move over the Circulation over Arabian Sea. The proximity of sea is proividing a lot of support, in the form of moist air and thus, rains have been heavy.

Heavy rains will be confined to southern parts of Gujarat including Surat, Vapi, Valsad, Mahuva, Veraval, Somnath, Dwarka, Okha, Porbandar etc. Interiors including Keshod, Junagadh, Rajkot may also see some heavy rains. Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad also can see moderate showers. Some areas may see some heavy rains as well.

Gujarat was the most deficit state but after these rains, it has recovered to quite an extent and by tomorrow, it will come under the normal range.
