Incessant Monsoon rains continue to lash the capital city since early Saturday morning. So much so that Palam Observatory has recorded 82.6 mm of rain in span of six hours from 5:30 am to 11:30 am.

According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions remain favourable for some more spells of rain during the day. Monsoon trough continues to pass through Delhi-NCR.

Not only this, maximum temperatures have also registered a significant drop in wake of these rains. Delhi recorded day maximum of mere 26°C around 12 pm. Moreover, we do not expect day temperature to increase steeply and is likely to settle around 30°C.

Updated on July 16, 2016 7:10 AM (IST): Heavy rains lash Delhi yet again, more in offing

What a great start to the weekend as Delhi woke up to another rainy morning on Saturday. Rain bearing clouds had engulfed Delhi around 5 am, followed by heavy rain across many parts of the city.

Not only this, more spells of rains of varied intensity are expected over the national capital throughout the day. We can also expect few heavy showers as well.

The national capital has been witnessing a prolonged spell of Monsoon rains and has been receiving rains for the straight fourth consecutive day now.

These showers have pulled the mercury down and both the maximum and minimum temperatures are now settling below normal by 2-3 degrees. However, high levels of humidity continue to cause discomfort to Delhiites.

According to Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the axis of Monsoon trough which is running through Delhi. Besides this, a fresh Western Disturbance seen over North Pakistan and adjoining areas is also moving towards Jammu and Kashmir.

Both the systems combined together have been giving widespread rain and thundershowers over entire northern plains including Delhi-NCR.

The city has so far recorded 130.7 mm of rain against the monthly average rainfall of 187.3 mm. With some more good rains in offing, we expect Delhi to cross this mark with absolute ease.

These ongoing Monsoon rains have helped in reducing the rainfall deficiency over Delhi, which has been highly deficit so far in the Monsoon season.
