For the last two to three days, parts of Andhra Pradesh have been receiving good rains. Coastal Andhra Pradesh in particular has been lashed by heavy to very heavy rains. These rains have been attributed to the trough extending from the upper air cyclonic circulation up to Andhra Pradesh.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Visakhapatnam was lashed by a good 134 mm of rain. Also, Kalingapatnam recorded whopping 61 mm of rain, followed by Kakinada where 31.7 mm of rainfall was observed. Machilipatnam and a few other areas also observed traces of rain.

During the Northeast Monsoon season Andhra Pradesh usually receives rain whenever a depression or a cyclonic storm develops in the Bay of Bengal. Coastal areas receive more rain as compared to the other parts of the state.

However, this time no such intense weather developed in the Bay of Bengal. But, good rains occurred due to a trough extending from the cyclonic circulation up to Andhra Coast. Almost the entire East Coast has received good rains due to this system.

Due to these rains, temperatures have witnessed a significant drop and pleasant weather conditions are being observed. These rains will gradually reduce, however, pleasant conditions will prevail over the region for the next few days.
