Heavy rains kill 4 in Thane, building collapses in Bhiwandi

Rain related incidents all across the globe have been wreaking havoc. So much so that traffic woes and localized flooding have become an everyday incident. The recent is the Thane rains incident where at least four people have been killed due to heavy showers.

While one man had drowned in the Mahuli waterfall, three men on Wada Bhiwandi road were killed as they were off for a swim at the Tansa River. The district has been receiving heavy rains for the past 48 hours.

Another unfortunate incident has been a building collapse at Bhiwandi which is situated near Mumbai. The building was a two floor building and over nine families were residents in the building. In this tragic incident nine people have been reported dead and twenty others are still buried under debris.

As per media reports, 22 have been injured in the mishap and are being currently treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi.

Not only this, reports also state that the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway was flooded due to which traffic movement was also severely affected. Authorities also received several reports of wall collapses, localized flooding as well as tree falls.

Moderate to heavy rains are expected to continue over Thane and its adjoining areas due to which conditions may even worsen at a few places.
