At least 15 people lost lives on Saturday morning when a 60-feet tall apartment wall collapsed upon a slum area in Pune’s Kondhwa area. The wall collapsed following the continuous rains.
Pune has been receiving heavy rainfall since the last few days. Pune has recorded 60 mm of rains in the last 24 hours after recording rather heavy rains the previous day.
The deceased included nine men, a woman and four children, according to initial reports from the fire department officials. The deceased are yet to be identified.
Even now, the weather conditions remain favorable for moderate to heavy rains and thundershowers over Pune till Sunday morning.
According to the reports, the compound wall collapsed around 1.45 am Friday night. Most of the people who lost their lives were labourers working at a construction site nearby.
A few people are still being feared trapped and rescue operations are underway. The deceased included nine men, a woman and four children, according to initial reports from the fire department officials.
Monsoon has come late in Maharashtra this year but has come with a bang. Rains breaking multiple records every passing day are being witnessed in the state. Although, the rains have for sure brought about a sigh of relief for the common man and replenished groundwater, but not these rains have also been an evil in disguise.
