Skymet has alerted that such weather in hilly regions might lead to landslides and flash floods at many places over Uttarakhand and a few places over Himachal Pradesh.

Updated on September 3, 19:35 - Heavy rains in store for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh

Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are gearing up for another spell of Monsoon rains in the coming days. According to Skymet Weather, moderate rain with few spells of heavy rains and thundershowers have already been lashing several parts of these states.

In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Mussoorie recorded 93.6 mm of rain, followed by Uttarkashi 70.6 mm, Dharamshala 32.4 mm, Una 31 mm, Almora 31.8 mm, Champawat 53 mm, Sundernagar 26.4 mm, Solan 18 mm, Manali 11 mm, Nainital 9 mm, Mukteshwar 6 mm, and Dehradun 4 mm.

As per weathermen, these rains are here to stay for at least next two days. Thereafter, rains might reduce but on and off showers would continue.

These ongoing rains can be attributed to the axis of Monsoon trough that has been running in close proximity of these states along with an embedded cyclonic circulation over Haryana and adjoining Northwest Uttar Pradesh.

The system is going to stay put for some more time and thus, Monsoon rains would continue over both the states. However, the intensity of rains would be more over southern parts of both the neighboring states.

Places such as Una, Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Manali, Pantnagar, Nainital, Mussoorie, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun would see some good rains for the next 48 hours.
