The coastal parts of Maharashtra have been receiving heavy Monsoon showers since the last couple of days. Likewise, other regions of Maharashtra have also been witnessing active Southwest Monsoon conditions. Thus, the residents of Maharashtra have been experiencing comfortable and pleasant weather conditions.
In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Ratnagiri recorded heavy rainfall of 108 mm, followed by Vengurla 64.4 mm, Wardha 64 mm, Chandrapur 38 mm, Aurangabad 33 mm, Nagpur 26 mm, Kolhapur 16 mm, Jalgaon 15.4 mm, Harnai 6.8 mm, Amaravati 4.2 mm, Ahmednagar 3.8 mm, Dahanu 3.7 mm, Gondia 3 mm, Mahabaleshwar 2.2 mm and Mumbai 1.4 mm.
These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen prevailing over coastal parts of Maharashtra. Also, a trough is seen extending from this system up to Vidarbha region.
Therefore, due to the effect of these two weather systems, heavy to very heavy Monsoon rains and thundershowers are expected to lash several parts of South Konkan & Goa region. Whereas, northern parts of Konkan & Goa will witness moderate showers with isolated heavy spells at a few places.
