Good pre-Monsoon rainfall activities have been going on over the state of West Bengal since last many days. Moderate to heavy showers occurred over many parts of West Bengal during the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, Bankura 44.6 mm, Burdwan 6.8 mm, Coochbehar 10.2 mm, Darjeeling 2 mm, Diamond Harbor 19 mm, Jalpaiguri 2.9 mm, Kolkata 11.4 mm, Malda 0.6 mm and Midnapore 10.6 mm.
These rains have been attributed to the trough which was extending from Rajasthan to Bangladesh across Gangetic West Bengal and a cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal. These weather systems were responsible for increased rainfall activity over the state.
Currently, the cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal has intensified into low pressure and will further concentrate into a depression leading to increased rainfall activities over many parts of West Bengal.
Kolkata and other districts of Gangetic West Bengal may receive moderate to heavy spells of rains which may pave way for the onset of monsoon over West Bengal during the next two to three days.
Weather will become comfortable there will be significant relief from ongoing sultry weather conditions. Day temperatures are also expected to fall by a few degrees.
