The northern hills of India have been continuously witnessing good Monsoon rains. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have also been receiving moderate to heavy Monsoon rainfall activities. Moreover, Jammu and Kashmir has also been recording good Monsoon showers, since last few days.
In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Mussorrie recorded 60 mm of rainfall, Jammu 47.2 mm, Una and Champawat 38 mm, Katra 36.4 mm, Dehradun 35.5 mm, Nahan 25.6 mm, Pithoragarh 17.9 mm, Shimla 16 mm, Dharamsala 14.8 mm, Haridwar 11.8 mm, Tehri 8.5 mm, Nainital 5.5 mm, Gulmarg 4.2 mm, Uttarkashi 3 mm and Solan 2 mm.
These weather conditions can be attributed to a Western Disturbance which was seen prevailing over Jammu and Kashmir region. Moreover, the axis of Monsoon trough is also seen running from North Pakistan via Amritsar.
Now, the Western Disturbance is likely to move away from the region. Due to this, a slight decrease in the rainfall activities is possible over the entire northern hills of India during the next 24 hours but moderate to heavy rains will continue.
However, the axis of Monsoon trough is likely to move towards North. Due to this, rains and thundershowers of heavy intensity are likely to continue over southern districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Also, moderate showers along with few heavy spells at many places are possible between August 10 and 12.

Thereafter, the rainfall intensity over the entire North Hills of India is likely to reduce significantly. However, the weather will continue to remain comfortable for at least next one week.

Moreover, these incessant rains may trigger flash floods, landslides and few incidents of cloud burst will continue to persist over the state. Hence, tourists are advised to take utmost precaution and care before traveling.
