Rains have been on the lighter side for the hilly states of North India for the last few days. In fact, we do not expect much changes in span of next four to five days. However, weather conditions are all set to change by weekend.

According to Skymet Weather, moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers are likely to lash Uttarakhand between September 22 and September 26. One or two very heavy spells are also possible during that period.

Himachal Pradesh would see heavy to very heavy rain and thundershowers between September 23 and September 26. In fact, snowfall is also expected over higher reaches of both the neighbouring states.

Widespread landslides/mudslides are expected over several parts of the state. Incidents of cloud burst, and flash floods also cannot be ruled out.  Intensity of weather activity would be more over Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir would settle with light rainfall activity only, with one or two moderate showers.
As per weathermen, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayas by September 21.

Simultaneously, the low pressure area brewing in Bay of Bengal would also reach central parts of the country and a trough would form from North Madhya Pradesh to Uttarakhand.

This interaction between the trough and Western Disturbance would bring widespread rain and thundershowers over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the coming days.
