Heavy rains in Bihar and Nepal may trigger flood like situation

Bihar has seen heavy rains during the last 24 hours. Moreover, during the last 24 hours, Purnea 172 mm of rains and Forbesganj saw 135 mm of rainfall. In the same duration, even Nepal recorded some intense rains with Simra recording 126 mm of rains and Surkhet at 117 mm.

Now also, heavy rainfall over the state of Bihar and Nepal is likely to trigger a flood like situation in Bihar which may pose a threat for the residents of the state.

These weather activities are expected on two counts one being the monsoon trough that has shifted close to the foothills towards the northern side. Along with this, the combined effect of rains over Nepal and Bihar combined will further aggravate the situation.

Places Champaran, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Raksaul, Katihar, Madhubani, Kishanganj may see intense rains for the next two to three days. Parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, North Bengal and Sikkim will also see some intense rains.

River including Gandak, Gudhi Gandak, Kosi, Mahananda, and Ghagra flow from the foothills to Bihar and due to excessive rains may be overflowing causing flooding conditions. Catchment areas and foothills may see heavy to very heavy rains further making it worse.
