Normally Monsoon reaches parts of Gujarat after the city of Mumbai. It is only by June 15 that we expect rains over parts of Gujarat including the state capital Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. Otherwise, this period remains hot and dry.

However, courtesy Cyclone Biparjoy, we have already seen some heavy rains in parts of Gujarat. So much so that Veraval recorded 204 mm of rainfall, Porbandar 79 mm, Dwarka 30 mm, and Okha 16 mm.

Biparjoy is keeping a good distance from the coast of Gujarat, however, the outer bands are still affecting the regions, giving good showers. Heavy rains is expected to be seen over some areas of Gujarat during the next 48 hours.

Heavy rains may not travel deep inside towards Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Deesa, and Patan. Heavy rains will remain confined to Junagarh, Okha, Porbandar, and Jamnagar and later may travel to Kutch also.

Coastal stations will be more vulnerable with strong winds also possible in these parts.
