Heavy rains continue in Bhopal, situation to improve

Several parts of Madhya Pradesh have been receiving heavy rains for the past few days. In fact, the situation is such that many parts have been reeling under floods. Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh recorded a whopping 132 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Bhopal has also been receiving heavy rains for quite some time now. So much so that the city received a whopping 175 mm of rainfall on July 9 which led to flood like situation over the city as well. Since then, while the city has not recorded three digit rains, but moderate rains have continued.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Bhopal has received a good 66.7 mm of rainfall. With this, Bhopal has surpassed its monthly rains. So far in July, Bhopal has received 434.6 mm of rain against the monthly average of 371.6 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the low pressure area which is currently marked over North Madhya Pradesh. The cyclonic circulation which was over Southwest Madhya Pradesh has merged with the trough which is extending from North Rajasthan across Central India. Both these systems have been giving good rains over Bhopal and its adjoining areas.

Now, during the next 24 hours, good rains will continue over Bhopal. However, after 24 hours, situation is expected to improve and the intensity of rainfall will decrease.
