State of Madhya Pradesh has witnessed above normal monsoon rainfall this season. Most of the monsoon systems have travelled through and through the state. Last month, West Madhya Pradesh, including the capital city Bhopal, Raisen, Hoshangabad and Pachmarhi witnessed deluge in the 3rd Week. However, last one week has generally been quiet and most of these days recorded highly deficit rainfall. West and North Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Ratlam, Gwalior, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur have nearly remained dry. Rains are coming up for the entire region, more emphatically during start of next week.
Low pressure area has formed over Bay of Bengal. Weather system will cross the coastline, more likely on 11thSep. Few showers, light to moderate in nature, are expected between 10th and 12thSeptember, specially over southern half of the state. As the system moves inland, the whole state is expected to have moderate to heavy rainfall on 13thSeptember. Gradually, the rains may vacate eastern parts from 14th Sep onward. However, the Southwest and North Madhya Pradesh will continue with fairly widespread showers on 15th and 16th Sep, as well.
Mid September is the time for commencement of withdrawal of monsoon from West Rajasthan. It may be delayed for few days, this season. State of Madhya Pradesh continue to enjoy monsoon rains, even till 2ndweek of October, albeit on a weaker note.
