Uttar Pradesh is one of the driest states in this monsoon. First three months of monsoon witnessed scanty rainfall over the state. Rain deficiency was around 47%. The drought like conditions lead to loss of Crop yield in many districts of Uttar Pradesh.
There were around 11 low pressure areas developed over Bay of Bengal until now and most of them travelled in westerly direction across Central India, leaving Indo Gangetic Plains including Uttar Pradesh dry. The present well marked low pressure area reached Uttar Pradesh which has been responsible for the deluge.
At least 23 people lost their lives in rain related incidents. Highest casualty of nine people was reported from Lucknow. Five people were reportedly killed in Unnao, three in Fatehpur and one each in Jhansi, Rae Bareli, Sitapur and Kannauj.
The low-pressure area has moved over eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Now rain will reduce over western districts of Uttar Pradesh. However, moderate rain with few heavy spells will continue over east and northeast Uttar Pradesh for another 24 hours.
Districts such as Balrampur, Siddharth Nagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Basti, Ambedkar Nagar, Deoria, Baliya, Azamgarh, Faizabad, Sultanpur and Ghazipur they receive intense rain.
Low pressure area will lose its steam while reaching over foothills of Himalayas. Light rain with one or two moderate spells may continue over East Uttar Pradesh but very heavy rain is ruled out.
Another low-pressure area is expected to develop over North Bay of Bengal which will also move in North West direction but that weather system how will recover to North and North East from East Madhya Pradesh. The impact of that low pressure area will be felt mostly over Bihar and Jharkhand however East Uttar Pradesh may also witness moderate rain between September 23 and 25.
