Torrential rains in Jammu and Kashmir have caused a landslide on the roads that lead to Mata Vaishno Devi’s Bhawan.

While no casualties have been reported so far, chopper services have come to a halt. Also, the route has also been diverted as a large portion of the road has caved in.

The usual flow of traffic was affected due to the landslide. However, repair work is currently underway to clear the debris from the roads.

Heavy rains in the region caused a lot of trouble to the devotees who were on their visit to Vaishno Devi.

As per a statement by the CEO of the Srimata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board, inclement weather conditions have already postponed the helicopter services. The landslide is about 30 feet in area. However, after the route being diverted, the trip continues to run smoothly.

The Kishtwar-Batote national highway, which was shut following heavy rain has been reopened once again, and the 250 vehicles, which were stranded have finally been allowed to move.

The Badrinath highway was also blocked for more than 24 hours after a landslide occurred in the region. Now weather conditions will improve for a brief period. However, a fresh Western Disturbance will start affecting the hills of North India by March 16.
