The state of Gujarat was the most deficient pocket until the month of July. Moreover, the month of June ended on a 34 percent deficiency for Saurashtra and Kutch, and 18 percent for the Gujarat region. By July 31, the deficiency for both Saurashtra and Kutch as well as Gujarat remained at -33 percent and -21 percent, respectively.
However, rains in the month of August picked up pace with flooding rains being observed in many parts of the state as well. With this, Gujarat jumped to positive figures, wherein, by August 31, Saurashtra and Kutch as well as Gujarat were surplus by 16 percent each, covering the deficiencies of June and July.
As of today, Saurashtra and Kutch region is surplus by 23 percent and Gujarat by 16 percent. Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, more rains are coming up for the state of Gujarat.
During the next 48 hours, Saurashtra and Kutch region in particular will see heavy rains right from Veraval, Somnath, Porbandar, Okha, Jamnagar as well as Rajkot.
In fact, parts of Bhuj as well as Naliya will also see some good showers. On the other hand, rains will be on the lesser side for Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Deesa, Idar, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar wherein moderate showers will be seen during the same time period.
