Almost half of the monsoon season has passed, with a generally normal rainfall pattern across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. While West Rajasthan has recorded a slight deficit of 3% and East Madhya Pradesh a minor deficit of 1%, the overall monsoon performance in these states can be considered satisfactory. However, a significant weather change is on the horizon.
The coming week is set to bring heavy rainfall to Eastern Rajasthan and most parts of Madhya Pradesh. A low-pressure area currently over Odisha is expected to move towards Madhya Pradesh, resulting in moderate to heavy showers over the next two to three days. This weather system is likely to impact western Rajasthan as well.
While the intensity of rainfall is expected to decrease on July 30 and 31, another low-pressure area developing over the Northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify rainfall across both states once again. This could lead to local flooding and waterlogging in several parts of Madhya Pradesh and Eastern Rajasthan. Districts like Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bundi, Bhilwara, Udaipur, and Chittorgarh in Rajasthan are likely to be the most affected.
The weather department is also monitoring another potential low-pressure area that may form over the Northwest Bay of Bengal around July 31. If it follows a similar trajectory, it could further enhance rainfall over Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan between August 1 and 4.
With the monsoon season still in full swing, residents of these regions are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to avoid any inconvenience caused by heavy rainfall.
