Southwest monsoon has advanced over western and central parts of the country. The monsoon current has covered the northern mountains, well before time. The leftover portion over the Indo-Gangetic plains will be covered in the next 48 hours. Leave aside West Rajasthan, monsoon will reach most other leftover parts by 01st July. Change of airmass will lead to heavy rainfall in many parts over the next 3-4 days.
The cyclonic circulation over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and coastal parts of Odisha will be moving inland. It is likely to come over Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, and East Uttar Pradesh in the next 24 hours. Further, it is likely to merge with the pre existing circulation over parts of Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh. Confluence of two streams will lead to heavy rainfall over northern parts of Madhya Pradesh and Northeast Rajasthan, tomorrow. Subsequently, the intensity and spread of rainfall will increase on 30thJune and expand to cover North and Central parts of Madhya Pradesh, Southwest Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Delhi and contiguous parts of Haryana.
Heavy to very heavy rain and thundershowers are expected over Gwalior, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Tikamgarh, Alwar, Dholpur, Swai Madhopur, Aligarh, Meerut, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Karnal, Ambala, Rohtak, Rewari, Sonipat, Panipat, Bulandshahar,and Delhi/NCR. Localized flooding, inundation of low lying areas and waterlogging & choking of arterial roads disrupting connectivity is likely. The rail, road and air traffic will be impacted. The remnant effect will continue on 01stJuly, as well. The conditions will improve to carry out recovery operations on 02nd July. However, another strong spell of rain and showers will impact these parts, after a short breather.
