East and South Rajasthan and North Gujarat are likely to have fairly widespread monsoon showers over the next four days, till Sunday. Remnant effect will continue at the start of next week and recede, thereafter. The weather activity will generally be moderately intense and heavy only in some places. Western parts of Rajasthan and Saurashtra & Kutch are likely to skip the inclement weather conditions.

The low-pressure area over Southwest Rajasthan has weakened a bit and shifted to central parts of the state as well marked cyclonic circulation. The seasonal monsoon trough has also been dragged southward and passes through the centre of circulation in the lower levels of the atmosphere. This pattern is expected to sustain, with minor oscillations, till the weekend. A fresh low-pressure area brewing in the Bay of Bengal, on intensification and subsequent movement over land, will diffuse the circulation and western end of the trough, as well. Following this, the weather conditions will improve, more so, from mid-week next, onwards.

To start with, intense activity will be confined to the interiors of Gujarat and South Rajasthan. While the northern and central parts of Gujarat will have the risk of vigorous monsoon conditions, the southwest and central parts of East Rajasthan will be more vulnerable to the monsoon fury. The Western half of Rajasthan in toto and the northeast portion housing capital city Jaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Dholpur and neighbourhood will witness mild weather activity.

The places at risk in Gujarat will include Banaskantha, Patan, Deesa, Mehsana, Palanpur, Sabarkantha, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Baroda, Kheda, Godhra, Panchmahal, Aravali, Dahod and Chhota Udaipur.  The locations of Rajasthan for intense activity will include Banswara, Dungarpur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar, Kota, Bundi, Baran, Jalore, Sirohi, Pali and Nagaur.  Incessant and intermittent rains, lasting for about four days,  may not be desired for the standing crops. Strong winds with heavy rains may lead to the lodging of some crops. Weather conditions are expected to improve, majorly from 12-13 September, onwards.
