South Coastal Gujarat and central parts of the state are likely to have heavy rainfall over the next three days. Multiple weather systems are working in tandem to accentuate the monsoon activity. The withdrawal of monsoon from the Kutch area, which commenced early this week, is likely to stall for some time from other parts. The monsoon surge and heavy rainfall belt have travelled along the coast from Goa, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Alibag, and Mumbai to Dahanu. It is likely to extend further and impact South Coastal Gujarat and the interiors of central Gujarat.
The cyclonic circulation, as a remnant of the low pressure, is now marked over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Maharashtra region. A trough is extending from the system to the Konkan Coast. As the circulations move northward, the weather activity will shift to parts of Gujarat and last for about three days, between the 26th and 28th of September.
South Gujarat will remain on the outer periphery of the main system today. Still, fairly widespread moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is likely today. Tomorrow, the peak activity will shift to Coastal Gujarat and spill over to the central heartland of the state. A day later, the intensity and spread will decrease but a moderate spell will continue mainly focused over the central region.
Intense weather activity is expected over Vapi, Valsad, Surat, Navsari and Bharuch. The spillover effect will cover Vadodara, Tapi, Dang, Godhra, Panchmahal and Kheda. The capital city Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad and Anand can also expect moderate showers over the next three days. Most parts of Saurashtra and Kutch will skip this weather activity. Light rains are likely over Mahuva, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Veraval and Somnath. Weather conditions will improve over the state from 29th September onwards and continue for the subsequent one week.
