Northwest United States has been witnessing heavy rain and snow for some time now and more of such weather is expected early this week. After a brief break storms will resume their track across the region.
Rainfall will span out to more areas and will remain heavy throughout Monday. The heaviest rain is expected to slam Northern California. A widespread 3 to 6 inches of rainfall across the San Francisco Bay region is expected. Rain will continue in part of the Sacramento Valley through Tuesday, with locally higher amounts possible across the foothills.
Such heavy rainfall has left reservoirs full and many rivers near flood stage. Residents who live near rivers and near reservoirs are requested to monitor the weather closely over the next few days.
People driving in such conditions are requested to be on alert for pooling of water on highways. But less rainfall is expected over Portland, Oregon, to Seattle where flood threat is not for flooding will be very isolated.
Gusty winds will accompany the rain and snow and heighten the risk for fallen trees, downed power lines and sporadic power outages. While no major storms are expected to follow the early week deluge, several weaker storms will unload additional bouts of rain and snow across the West Coast into next week.
The wet weather from these storms will tend to be spottier and less intense.
