Uttar Pradesh remained almost dry during first three months of Monsoon and rain commenced over many parts of Uttar Pradesh in September. Good rainfall during 3rd and 4th week reduced the rain deficiency to a great extent. However, all is not over and another heavy spell is approaching Uttar Pradesh will continue until October 8.
A low pressure area has formed over pradesh and adjoining areas and a trough is extending from the cyclonic circulation associated with low pressure area upto North West Uttar Pradesh across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Bahraich has already recorded 113 mm rain during the last 24 hours and many parts of East and Central Uttar Pradesh have received moderate showers.
Rain activities will intensify over many parts of Uttar Pradesh. However, areas adjacent to Delhi and Haryana will receive light rainfall only. Heavy rain will be seen over Bareilly, Moradabad, Rampur, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lucknow, Kanpur, Unnao, Pratapgarh, Faizabad, Gorakhpur, Gonda Basti. Rain activities will also be very intense over many parts of Uttarakhand.
Particularly Central and Eastern districts of Uttarakhand may receive heavy to very heavy downpour which may lead to landslides and mudslides. People are advised not to visit Kedarnath Dham, Badrinath Dham, Hemkund and other hilly destination of Uttarakhand for at least next 2 to 3 days. Inclement weather conditions may prove hazardous for tourists as well as for pilgrims.
Whether activities will start subsiding over Uttarakhand and most parts of west and Central Uttar Pradesh from October 9. However light rain with few moderate spells may continue thereafter as well.
