Heavy rain to continue in West Madhya Pradesh, no relief for flood-hit Ujjain

Heavy to very heavy rains have been lashing most parts of West Madhya Pradesh during the last 24 hours. Incessant rain has worsened the conditions in flood ravaged Ujjain that has recorded 144 mm of rain in span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday.

Besides this, Indore has recorded 85 mm of rain followed by Bhopal at 72 mm and Guna at 66 mm.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, a low pressure area prevailing over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan has been responsible for the weather activity over the region.

Skymet predicts heavy showers to continue for at least another 48 hours as the system has become more marked. Moreover, weather system has strength to further intensify into a depression as well.

Thereafter, rain belt with shift westwards, reducing rain over West Madhya Pradesh but heavy showers will still continue over parts of Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat for another 24 hours.

With this fresh spell of rain, the cumulative rainfall figure for West Madhya Pradesh has risen up to 41 per cent. We can expect this surplus figure to increase further.
