The states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have been observing light to moderate rain and thundershowers lately. During the last 24 hours, isolated heavy showers to the tune of 100 mm lashed Visakhapatnam. Meanwhile, Ongole received 65.4 mm of rainfall, Kalingapatnam 44 mm, Ramagundam 22.8 mm and Hanamkonda 17.4 mm in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday.

All these weather conditions can be attributed to the continuous blow of moist winds from the Bay of Bengal.

At present, a Trough of Low is extending from Sri Lanka Coast to Southwest Bay of Bengal off South Andhra Pradesh Coast. One Cyclonic Circulation is also over the central parts of Madhya Pradesh along with an upper air Trough extending up to Karnataka across Telangana from this system.

Under the influence of these systems, light to moderate rain and thundershowers would continue in many parts of both the states for another two to three days. Meanwhile, the day will be slightly warm and humid with cloudy sky conditions but the night would remain on the comfortable side.

Places like Hyderabad, Machilipatnam, Visakhapatnam, Khammam, Hanamkonda, Nizamabad, and Medak would observe light to moderate rain and thundershower activities for the next 48 to 72 hours.

All these rainfall activities are highly beneficial for all the major crops in the states, at present.
