A weak low pressure system which formed in the Bay of Bengal is now heading northwards. It may merge with themonsoonof axis trough and give heavy to very heavy rain in entire west Uttar Pradesh. Places that lie on the path of this system such as Uttarakhand, west Haryana are also expected to get some heavy spells from the evening of 19thJuly.
Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Meerut, Kurukshetra in west U.P and Dehradun, Mussoorie and Nainital in Uttarakhand may get heavy rain of up to 100mm.
Meanwhile, people in the national capital may finally witness some good rain beginning 20thof July. Rain inDelhiwill continue for a week till the 25thand decrease thereafter. West and north Punjab are also expected to get good rain beginning from tomorrow. Parts of Mohali, Chandigarh, Patiala and Amritsar are some of the places that will receive rain.
Not leaving behind the dry land of Rajasthan, weathermen tell us that moderate rain spells of up to 30mm are expected in east Rajasthan today, which may continue till tomorrow. Pink city Jaipur could therefore have mostly cloudy skies, cool and rainy weather for another 24 to 36hours. Parts of east Haryana are also expected to get rain in another 24 to 48hours.
“Whether it will rain heavily or not in Delhi and NCR from tomorrow evening onwards and then for the next four days, is entirely dependent on whether the system tilts towards the east or not. It may tilt eastwards very soon, head straight for west U.P and affect parts of north and northwest India on its way”, says Mahesh Palawat, Head of the meteorological team at Skymet Weather.
As of now the low pressure system is at west Madhya Pradesh and has given light to moderate rain in many parts of the state. Jabalpur has recorded the highest rain of 33mm.
