July 17, 2022 4:13 PM |

Between June 1 and July 16, western parts of Madhya Pradesh have received 40% above normal rain while eastern parts have received 5% below normal rainfall. Similarly, the western districts of Rajasthan have received 88% surplus rain and eastern Rajasthan has received 32% less rainfall.

If we talk about Rajasthan, in general, most of the districts of western Rajasthan are drought prone whereas the eastern districts get good rainfall. In the month of July, two low pressure areas formed over Odisha and moved to Gujarat and sometimes up to south Rajasthan. The monsoon trough also remained over central India. Both these weather systems continued to give good rains to Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

A fresh Low Pressure Area has formed over Odisha, which will move in the northwest direction and will come over Madhya Pradesh. Due to this, there is a possibility of heavy rain during the next 4 or 5 days in many districts of Madhya Pradesh. However, the rain activities will not be very heavy, so there is no risk of flooding.

During the next 2 days, there is a possibility of good rain in the southeast districts of Rajasthan as well. Rain activities will be subdued over Northwest and West Rajasthan. Most parts of Rajasthan may witness reduced rain between July 21 and 23. but from the evening of July 24, rain activities will increase again and the entire state can get good rains.

Month of July has brought good rains for Rajasthan and Gujarat and farmers got relief from drought like conditions. Sufficient amount of water has accumulated in the reservoirs and dams. The second half of July is also likely to prove to be good for both the states.
