At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is over East Uttar Pradesh and a Trough is extending up to Gangetic West Bengal. Moreover, mid-level westerly winds are merging with low-level southeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal.
Under the influence of these systems, good rain and thundershowers are likely in Odisha and West Bengal. The intensity is likely to be more in Odisha and we expect a few heavy spells of rain. These rains would be accompanied by lightning strikes, thunderstorms and strong winds in parts of Odisha. The weather activities might peak on February 25.
Meanwhile, isolated intense thunderstorm may occur in West Bengal including Kolkata. Some moderate showers are also expected here.
On February 26, rains might reduce in Gangetic West Bengal, but Sub Himalayan West Bengal may continue to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers for some more time.
By February 27, the rain belt will shift towards Northeast India. As a result, the weather might start clearing up from Odisha and West Bengal.
