Heavy rains lashed Jaisalmer for the second consecutive day on Monday. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, low pressure area over Northwest Rajasthan has given heavy showers over several parts of Rajasthan including Jaisalmer.
City has recorded 74.4 mm of rain in span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday. This has been third highest rainfall recorded in span of 24 hours in September during last 10 years, other than in 2011 and 2005.
Earlier on Sunday, Jaisalmer had also received 47 mm of rain. With this, city has observed 127 mm of rain so far, surpassing the monthly average rainfall of 25.9 mm of rain.
As per Skymet, Southwest Monsoon has retreated from the city on September 4. However, these showers have been due to the Monsoon system which has changed the wind pattern over Jaisalmer.

Skymet predicts rains will now vacate the region as the low pressure area will move further northwards. Jaisalmer will once again witness clear sky, with dry northwesterly winds replacing the moist winds.
In absence of any weather activity, both day and night temperatures will increase significantly. Maximum temperatures are expected to settle in high 30s and even touch 40s.
