Heavy rain in Patna, Gaya, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Supaul to continue

During this monsoon season, this is the first time Bihar and Jharkhand are receiving good rainfall. Almost drought conditions were prevailing over most parts of Bihar and northern parts of Jharkhand.

During the last 24 hours, the states has received widespread rainfall with few heavy spells. In fact, Supaul recorded very heavy rain to the tune of 154.4 mm.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Muzaffarpur 74.6 mm, Daltonganj 64.6 mm, Gaya 60.4 mm, Patna 41.2 mm, Bhagalpur and Ranchi 23.2 mm, Bokaro 15.6 mm, Chapra 13.2 mm.

At present, the axis of monsoon trough is moving across both the states and a cyclonic circulation is seen over West Bengal and adjoining East Bihar and is extending up to high tropospheric level.

This system may intensify in to a low-pressure area during the next 48 hours.

Thus, the rainfall activity is likely to enhance over most parts of the state with heavy to very heavy rainfall over some parts. Moderate lightening may also cause danger to the people. These rainfall activities are likely to continue for next 48 hours.

Flood like situation may also occur along the foothills of Bihar during the coming days.

Places such as Patna, Gaya, Nawada, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Bokaro, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, Supaul and Sitamarhi are expected to witness heavy rainfall activity.
