The Western Disturbance over Pakistan and adjoining area is now seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Its associated upper air cyclonic circulation is extending up to 5.8 km.
Due to his strong weather system, during the last 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rains occurred over many districts of Himachal Pradesh and South Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, many areas have recorded 3-deigit rainfall activity.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Manali recorded 127 mm of rain, followed by Dharamshala 125 mm, Una 124 mm, Jammu 89 mm and Bhuntar 71 mm.
Meanwhile, moderate rains occurred over rest parts of Jammu and Kashmir along with few parts of Uttarakhand.
Now also we expect rains to continue over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand with heavy to very heavy intensity rains. Flood like situation may also occur in parts of these states. Land slide and mudslide cannot be ruled out.
However, in Jammu and Kashmir, rainfall activity will slightly less, as good rains will only continue over parts of south and east Jammu and Kashmir.
The state of Uttarakhand will find increase in rain and thundershower activity. Hailstorm may also occur in parts of this region.
These rains will continue over the Western Himalayas during the next 24 hours. Activity will start reducing after 48 hours. However, possibilities of land slide will still continue.
