Heavy rain in Lucknow, Bahraich, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit likely

The state of Uttar Pradesh received fairly widespread rainfall activity with few heavy showers, during the last 24 hours. In fact, Bahraich recorded heavy rain to the tune of 119 mm.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Bareilly recorded 78 mm of rain, followed by Gazipur 18 mm and Lucknow 11 mm.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is moving across the plains of West Uttar Pradesh to Southeast Uttar Pradesh. Further, the western arm of the Monsoon trough is likely to move towards the foothills. Thus, rainfall activity is expected to continue over many parts of Uttar Pradesh.

During the next 24 hours, jump in rainfall activity is expected over eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Moderate rains with few heavy spells will occur over many places, including the foothills where mainly heavy showers will occur. In fact, flood like situation may also occur over few parts of the state along the foothills.

Rainfall will continue for the next 48 hours. Thereafter, rainfall activity will reduce Southwest Uttar Pradesh. Places like Aligarh, Agar and Bulandshahr may receive short spells of showers. However, humid weather conditions will prevail over these regions.

Few spells of rain and thundershower activity with isolated heavy spells are likely over Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Auraiya, Azamgarh, Badaun, Bahraich, Ballia, Balrampur, Banda, Bara Banki, Bareilly, Basti, Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Chandauli, Deoria, Etah, Etawah, Faizabad, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Hapur, Hardoi, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Kanshiram Nagar, Kaushambi, Kheri, Kushinagar, Lucknow, Mahrajganj, Mainpuri, Mau, Meerut, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Rampur, Saharanpur, Sambhal, Sant Kabir Nagar, Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi), Shahjahanpur, Shamli, Shrawasti, Siddharthnagar, Sitapur, Sonbhadra, Sultanpur, Unnao and Varanasi during next 12 hours.
