The West Coast is the rainiest pocket of the country during the Southwest Monsoon season and rightly so as the region has recorded a few very heavy spells during the last 24 hours. So much so that the Konkan region saw some hefty three-digit rains during the aforementioned time period.

Not only this, moderate rainfall activity was also seen over some parts of Coastal Karnataka as well as Kerala. Moreover, a whopping 354 mm of rains were seen at Dahanu as well which lies in the Konkan region.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Dahanu saw 354 mm of rains, Thane recorded a massive 156 mm of rainfall. Mumbai rains were not far behind as three-digit rains were seen over both the observatories with Colaba witnessing 171 mm of rains, and Santa Cruz seeing 122 mm rains.

These rains have been attributed to the off-shore trough which has been persisting along the West Coast. The trough is expected to persist for some time now and rains will remain on the higher side for the Konkan region along with Coastal Karnataka region.

Talking about Kerala, rains will remain between light to moderate only. Mumbai and its adjoining areas will see heavy to very heavy rains during the next 24 hours as well.
