Jamshedpur and other parts of Jharkhand have already been observing decent rains ever since the onset of Monsoon over the state.
In last 24 hours, Jamshedpur has received extremely heavy rainfall of 128 mm owing to a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand. This rainfall can be termed as the third highest 24-hour rainfall observed in last 10 years.
The city holds the record of observing the highest single day rainfall in the year 2007 on July 6 when it observed hefty showers of 193.7 mm. So, this is the highest hourly rainfall that Jamshedpur has observed since 2007.
Hefty rains have also been reported over parts of Bihar and adjoining areas of Jamshedpur. Monthly average for July for the city is 311.6 mm and till date, Jamshedpur has already recorded rainfall of 334.1 mm. Which clearly states that the city has already surpassed its total monthly average.
Moreover, moderate rains are now expected to continue over the city for another 2 -3 days.
Jharkhand normally receives moderate to heavy rainfall during Monsoon period and whenever any cyclonic circulation or low-pressure area develops over North Bay of Bengal, it travels in a north westerly direction and affects Odisha and Jharkhand.
