The state of Kolkata received moderate to heavy rains during the last 24 hours. Heavy rains were observed over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. However, moderate rains were recorded over Gangetic West Bengal.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Kolkata 8.6 mm, Malda 26.8 mm, Krishnanagar 16.6 mm, Midnapore 11.6 mm, Jalpaiguri 6.5 mm, Darjeeling 5 mm, Asansol 1.3 mm, Diamond Harbour 1.5 mm, Baharampur 10 mm, Bankura 9.3 mm, Burdwan 1 mm, Coochbehar 1.4 mm, Digha 1.6 mm.

At present, the cyclonic circulation lies over eastern parts of Bihar and adjoining parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. The axis of Monsoon trough is currently passing through central and southern parts of West Bengal towards Northeast Bay of Bengal.
Warm and moist winds are affecting the region due to these above systems. Thus, moderate to heavy rainfall activity is likely to continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. While Gangetic West Bengal will receive light to moderate rains over many places.
According to Skymet Weather, these rain, thundershowers and moderate lighting strikes are expected to continue for the next few days.
Places such as Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Siliguri will receive heavy rains. Meanwhile, Balurghat, Malda, Howrah, Kolkata will witness moderate rainfall activity.
