According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, Gorakhpur in a span of 24 hours, from 8.30 am on Wednesday has observed 54 mm of heavy rain. At present, a Monsoon trough is extending from Gujarat region to the Nothern parts of West Bengal across Uttar Pradesh. We expect moderate to heavy rain over East Uttar Pradesh.

During the next 48 hours, some places like Varanasi, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Chandoli, Pratapgarh, Azamgarh and Gorakhpur may receive good rains. Also, scattered rains are possible over Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Bahraich.

In the western districts of Uttar Pradesh, the intensity of the rains would be less and showers will be seen in patches during this period. Meerut, Agra, Aligarh, and Bareilly may receive isolated rain. The rainfall activities would start to reduce over East Uttar Pradesh September 28 onward.

Until then, on and off good rainfall activities would continue over the state and the Weather would remain comfortable with cloudy sky.

Thus, we can say that the withdrawal of the Monsoon Season from Uttar Pradesh is expected to get delayed by at least ten days.
