The Western Disturbance as an upper sir system is moving across Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. This system will further move slowly towards west. Due to this system, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are already receiving heavy showers. In fact, moderate rains were also received by Jammu and Kashmir.

Further also we expect moderate rains to continue over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand with few heavy spells. While the hills of North Jammu and Kashmir, will witness marginal decrease in rainfall activity. Jammu and adjoining belt may receive moderate rain over few places.

The hills of North India i.e. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand received moderate rain spells over many places, especially in Kashmir and Himachal.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Dehradun recorded heavy rain to the tune of 40.5 mm, followed by Shimla 21.8 mm, Dharamshala 23.6 mm, Chamber 1 mm, Kalpa 0.4 mm, Kullu 3.4 mm, Manali 7 mm, Haridwar 15.2 mm, Nainital 5.2 mm.

Currently, the Western Disturbance as an upper air system is seen persisting over northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining region. Simultaneously, southeasterly moist air mass is also affecting over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Due to all these weather conditions, moderate rainfall activity will continue over many places of both these states with heavy rainfall activity over few places. In fact, these rains are likely to continue for the next 48 hours as well.

Places like Dehradun, Tehri, Nainital, Almora, Pithoragarh, Haridwar, Dharamshala, Kangra, Manali, Shimla, Bilaspur, Solan will witness moderate rainfall activity with isolated heavy showers.

Therefore, we can say that rains are expected to continue over the western Himalayas with high rain intensity over parts of Himachal and Uttarakhand. Due to these heavy rains, landslide and mud slide may also occur over few places in these states.
