Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in many districts of Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours under the impact of Cyclone Roanu. The weather system is currently centred 60 kms south southeast of Visakhapatnam.

The Disaster Management Department has already opened a control room in Hyderabad to monitor the situation as torrential rain is likely to batter coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh. Along with heavy rainfall, isolated extremely heavy rainfall might occur over coastal Andhra Pradesh in next 24 hours.

Areas that are most likely to be affected include Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Kalingapatnam and Kakinada.

As the system is moving northwards, heavy rain is likely to lash to parts of Odisha in next couple of days. Rayalaseema might also witness isolated moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours owing to Cyclone Roanu.

As the sea condition would be rough to very rough off and along the coast in the next 24 hours, because of squally winds gusting up to 75 kmph, fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea.
