The northeastern states of India recorded good rainfall activity, during the last 24 hours, as Assam received heavy rains and widespread moderate rains were witnessed by rest all northeastern states. In fact, Dibrugarh in Assam recorded very heavy rain to the tune of 101 mm.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Gangtok recorded 82 mm of rain, followed by Cherrapunji 36 mm, North Lakhimpur 26 mm, Kalimpong 24 mm, Kohima 25 mm, Guwahati 19 mm and Silchar 7 mm.
At present, a cyclonic circulation lies over Assam and adjoining area. Southerly most winds are also prevailing over Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya and are in cursing moisture over all of these states.
Therefore, we can say that moderate to heavy rains are expected over many places of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura with few heavy to very heavy rain showers. On the other hand, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Manipur will witness moderate rainfall activity.
Further also we expect rains to continue over the northeastern states along with Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Rainfall intensity will maintain over the area for the next 24 hours.
